The CSB-SCB podcast is owned and operated by the Canadian Society for Biomechanics. Student Representatives, Jackie Zehr and Franziska Onasch, interview experts (academics, industry professionals, practitioners) about the science and practice of biomechanics. Interdisciplinary topics are discussed with a particular focus on research, technology, evidence-based practice, and knowledge translation in the field of biomechanics. New episodes are released on the first Monday of each month. For questions and inquiries, email students@csb-scb.com. Guest Biography:
Dr. Ryan Graham is an Associate Professor in the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and is the University Research Chair in Biomechanics and Data Science for Human Health and Performance. He further is a member of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Biomedical Engineering and holds Adjunct appointments in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University and in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Graham earned two Bachelor degrees, one in Biology and one in Physical and Health Education from Queen’s University. He also completed his Master’s (2008) and PhD (2012) in Biomechanics and Ergonomics, both at Queen’s University. As director of the Spine and Movement Biomechanics Laboratory, Dr. Graham’s research program focuses on merging concepts from biomechanics, motor control, and computer science to optimize human health and performance in clinical settings, workplaces, sport, and activities of daily living. In 2018, Dr. Graham was the recipient of the prestigious CSB David Winter Young Investigator Award, and in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Benoit, Dr. Graham is co-chairing the upcoming North American Congress on Biomechanics (NACOB) 2022, which will be hosted in our nation’s capital this summer.
