The CSB-SCB podcast is owned and operated by the Canadian Society for Biomechanics. Student Representatives, Jackie Zehr and Franziska Onasch, interview experts (academics, industry professionals, practitioners) about the science and practice of biomechanics. Interdisciplinary topics are discussed with a particular focus on research, technology, evidence-based practice, and knowledge translation in the field of biomechanics. New episodes are released on the first Monday of each month. For questions and inquiries, email students@csb-scb.com. Guest Biography:
Dr. Mike Holmes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University and the Canada Research Chair in Neuromuscular Mechanics and Ergonomics. He also holds Adjunct Faculty appointments at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Dr. Holmes graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (2003) and Master of Science in biomechanics (2005), both from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and completed his PhD in biomechanics at McMaster University (2011). He further completed a 1-year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Waterloo (2012). As the Director of the Neuromechanics and Ergonomics Lab, Dr. Holmes’ research program integrates principles of neurophysiology and biomechanics to understand upper extremity performance and injury. His lab further aims to develop recommendations and programs to improve worker function and reduce injury risk. Dr. Holmes has served the CSB as the Communications Officer (2014 - 2018) and as a member at large (2018 – 2020).
